Fake
Machine lockstitch only. Stitching is often uneven, with thread colour slightly off. May show loose threads or skipped stitches.
03 — Hardware
Authentic
Solid brass hardware with a protective finish. Heavy and substantial to the touch. Magnetic closures engage with a firm, definitive snap.
Fake
Lightweight zinc alloy with thin plating. Scratches reveal a different-coloured base metal beneath. Magnetic closures may feel weak or misaligned.
04 — Brand label
Authentic
A small, flat leather label inside the bag reads 'Polène Paris'. The font is clean and minimal. The label is stitched flush to the interior.
Fake
Label text may be slightly off — check font weight and spacing. Some fakes omit the Paris location or use slightly different letter forms.
05 — Dust bag
Authentic
Cream or off-white cotton dust bag with the Polène logo embossed or printed in a matching tone. Drawstring closure with a leather toggle.
Fake
Generic dust bags, or bags using a slightly different font or a logo that is too bold or too small relative to authentic examples.
06 — Box and packaging
Authentic
Branded rigid box with ribbon and tissue paper. The box is heavy and the ribbon is tied to a specific style. All included for new purchases.
Fake
Generic box or no box. Ribbon may be missing or tied differently. Tissue paper may have no branding.
07 — Interior lining
Authentic
Smooth, consistent leather lining throughout. No raw edges visible. Pocket seams are clean and finished.
Fake
Lining may use a fabric with a different texture or an inconsistent leather match. Raw or unfinished edges may be visible in pockets.
